Sam Hoch is a composer and experienced audio engineer with a dual degree Bachelor’s of Music in Computer Music and Recording Arts & Sciences, significant media arts work experience, and thorough knowledge of audio/visual technologies seeking to apply and further develop abilities at the intersection of music and new media. He works with a wide range of media, from generative audio installations to commercial film productions. The three main fields that I have focused this website around are my audio engineering, original compositions, and computer music programming.
I am currently focused on completing undergraduate studies for Computer Music Composition and Recording Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. I am now living in Minneapolis, continuing to record on my own and collaborate on projects for a variety of media, dance, and visual artists. As a software programmer, I use languages such as SuperCollider to interface my own signal processing tools, control a palette of external modules, and automate overall workflow. I have apprenticed under digital-hardcore musician Jeff Carey to incorporate computer science into both physical control interfaces and compositional practice.
